Terms and Conditions of using and promoting Carbon Balanced Paper

Background

Carbon Balanced Paper is an initiative providing high credibility and integrity for customers and their clients, to reduce carbon impacts in their paper based communications.

Carbon Balancing (a form of carbon offsetting), is provided by international conservation charity, the World Land Trust (WLT), through land purchase of ecologically important areas of tropical rainforest under imminent threat of deforestation. Preserving such habitat balances carbon through a mechanism known as REDD, Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation, and also safeguards biodiversity within these forests.

Those using Carbon Balanced Paper may use the Carbon Balanced Paper logo, when registering work and agreeing to conditions of use.

Strict conditions apply in how the World Land Trust and Carbon Balanced may be referred to when making statements concerning the use of Carbon Balanced Paper. These terms protect the integrity of the World Land Trust and Carbon Balanced, and ensure the environmental benefits of using Carbon Balanced Paper are not overstated, and prevent the implication of any direct endorsement by the World Land Trust of users of Carbon Balanced Paper.

Organisations within the Graphics industry supporting and using Carbon Balanced Paper, may promote Carbon Balanced Papers as a service offer in their customer communications and websites, observing the conditions of use below.

Changes and agreement to comply will be sought where overstatements or misrepresentation of Carbon Balanced or the World Land Trust by an organisation are made. Should an organisation continue and knowingly misrepresent, then the World Land Trust will make a public statement to this effect and disassociate themselves from that organisation.

If resolution is not achieved, breaches of these terms and conditions or illegal use of the World Land Trust trademark could be subject to legal action.
